Working Principle

An air-cooled water chiller works by using a closed-loop refrigeration cycle involving four main components: a compressor, an air-cooled condenser, an expansion valve, and an evaporator. The compressor raises the pressure and temperature of the refrigerant vapor, which then flows to the condenser where fans blow ambient air over the coils to release heat, condensing the vapor into a high-pressure liquid. The liquid passes through the expansion valve, reducing its pressure and temperature, becoming a low-pressure mixture of liquid and vapor. In the evaporator, this mixture absorbs heat from the water that needs to be cooled, causing the water's temperature to drop while the refrigerant vaporizes and returns to the compressor to repeat the cycle. The chilled water is pumped to cool target equipment, and the warmed water loops back to the evaporator for continuous cooling. This design eliminates the need for a cooling tower, allows flexible outdoor installation, and requires less maintenance, making it suitable for industrial processes, commercial AC systems, data centers, and medical applications.
