A water chiller is a cooling device that removes heat from water and circulates chilled water to cool industrial equipment or processes. It uses a refrigeration cycle-compressor, condenser, evaporator, and expansion valve-to lower water temperature, typically between 5–30°C. Modern chillers feature energy-efficient tech like inverters or eco-friendly refrigerants (e.g., R32). They come in types: industrial for large-scale use, portable for mobility, and precision models with ±0.5°C control. Applied in manufacturing, labs, and commercial spaces, they prevent overheating, ensure process stability, and cut energy costs, offering reliable cooling for various needs.

The compressor compresses the low-pressure refrigerant gas into high-pressure gas, which then enters the condenser. In the condenser, the high-pressure refrigerant gas is cooled by the air blown by the fan, and the heat is dissipated into the air, condensing into a high-pressure liquid. The high-pressure liquid refrigerant passes through the expansion valve and is throttled and depressurized to become a low-pressure liquid-gas mixture, and then enters the evaporator. In the evaporator, the low-pressure refrigerant absorbs the heat of the water to be cooled, so that the water temperature drops, and the refrigerant itself vaporizes into a low-pressure gas. The low-pressure refrigerant gas returns to the compressor again to start the next cycle, so as to realize continuous cooling of the water.
